Real Estate agencies can do no good in the eyes of a jaded and cynical public but what about the industry that supports them? As we all know real estate agents use real estate websites and that they, generally speaking, end up paying very large amounts to be on those sites
Its not usual dinner party conversation that agents not only really depend on these sites but also actively lobby them to keep the publics own listings out. Its useful to know that agents and the property sites that they use have a vested interest in locking out the public from any independent use of the sites.

At this very moment a real estate portal in Australia has decided to go multiply the inherent inequity between fsbo or agent assisted sales and regulation property sales.
Not content to prohibit private sales the market power website has sought to hinder a small company which helps fsbos via an agent assisted sale. With no ability to prevent the extremely poor behaviour the PropertyNow Australian portal has sought the intercession of the industry regulator known as ACCC.
The acronym stands for Australian Consumer and Competition Commission. It is hoped and appears very likely that the market power will be found to have breached the laws that were designed to engender fair competition.
The acts are particularly compelling. There are large financial penalties and other remedies that come into effect if a company breaks the very serious Competition Laws.
It seems almost incomprehensible that an already secure company and one which is a recognisable would jeopardise its own business operations with the prospect of generating chaos on its site even if successful and one which in any case, contains so little upside potential.
It only necessitates a proof that the well known property site is in fact a Market Power, in order for the allegations to apply a factual breach of law.
If so then shareholders support of the company could fall dramatically.
With that kind of news,the appetite for the fight might pass very quickly. The attempt to try to stop the littler site may prove greatly both litigious and a PR nightmare for the dominant portal.
The attempts by those who design these estate agent onlyproperty listing portals in an effort to keep for sale by owner listings as no go territory are inevitably sure to disappear.
The co-ercion of industry websites to keep the little guys out of the game is one thing, but when it begins to impact upon property sellers, then its a totally prohibition.
The determination of the agent only websites, to exclude fsbo sellers will fail Eventually the portals and agents will need to accept the .
The regulatory principles will certainly accelerate the change.
The co-operating between agents and industry sites in order to incubate the world order is a national contention in in online property sales but gradually agents are beginning starting to lose their exclusive tenure and so fsbos are achieving more successful sales.
